1 DEAD: Officer involved shooting in Joplin

One man is dead, following an officer-involved shooting that took place Saturday afternoon at 1523 S. Kentucky in Joplin.

Capt. William Davis of the Joplin Police Department tells NewsTalk KZRG that officers had responded to a 911 call of a report of a disturbance at that residence.

The caller described being assaulted by a male with a weapon.

The name of the adult male who was fatally shot by officers is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

No police officers were injured.

In accordance with JPD policy and procedures, three Officers are on paid Administrative Leave.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has been asked to investigate the shooting.
