National Night Out to take place Tuesday at Schifferdecker Park

The Joplin Police Department will be holding an event Tuesday that aims to bring the community together to fight crime.

The department is participating in National Night Out, which will be held at Schifferdecker Park and the Aquatic Center.

A k-9 demonstration will be provided, emergency vehicles will be on display, other activities will be available, and free food will all be provided.

This marks the 38th year of National Night Out, which helps the police department and community members develop a better relationship.

The event starts at 5:30 PM on Tuesday; a free swim period is set to start the same day at Schifferdecker Aquatic Center at 6:45 PM.
