Three injured after car goes off road, hits tree

Three people were injured - two seriously-  in an accident on Stateline Road, about a mile north of Seneca in Newton County just after nine Monday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a car driven by 19-year-old Brian Kerns failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the road and smashed into a tree.

Kerns and an occupant, 22-year-old Blake A. Youngblood of Joplin, suffered serious injuries.

Another occupant, 18-year-old Kaitlen S. Tygart of Galena, Mo. suffered moderate injuries.

All three were transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for treatment.
