New scam involves buying, selling vaccination cards

An all-new scam has surfaced for the first time in nearby Springfield.

Scammers are buying peoples' COVID-19 Vaccination cards on Facebook Marketplace and then selling them.

Stephanie Garland of the Better Business Bureau says what scammers really want to do is trick people into giving them other numbers that can make them tens of thousands of dollars in illicit profits.

"If they get information, then they can get $70-$75,000 out of a person's Social Security number and personal information," Garland says. "We just want people to be very cautious."

Garland says some companies are requiring workers to be vaccinated which could lead some people to want to buy vaccination cards.
