Referee suspended after assault in McAuley locker room

Things got intense during a recent basketball game at McAuley Catholic High School in Joplin last Thursday.
Now, a Missouri State High School Athletics Association referee has been suspended.
Police say after a disputed call on the court, violence broke out and referee Tevin Gibson physically assaulted Jake Holt in a locker room.
Gibson has been suspended by the MSHSAA. Gibson was issued a citation for misdemeanor assault by the Joplin Police Department.
The event remains under investigation by Joplin Police and the MSHSAA.
