How does a pay raise sound -- let's say a raise of 9 percent?

There may be an international pandemic going on, thousands of people unemployed across the nation but times aren’t too hard for the Joplin City Council to consider giving an across the board pay raise to city workers.

The proposed 9% increase would cost taxpayers just over $1 million in the next year.

Members of the Joplin City Council have agreed to advance the proposal, which awaits final action as the city's budget is finalized.
