JPD investigating rape of homeless woman

Joplin Police are investigating the reported rape of a homeless woman on Thursday.

Joplin Police Capt. William Davis tells NewsTalk KZRG police were called after a physician saw the woman laying in a field near 20th and Schifferdecker Thursday evening.

The woman told the doctor she had been raped in a wooded area on the city’s west side.

No arrests have been made.

The woman was transported to Freeman West for a sexual assault exam.
