Oklahoma Attorney General denounces OSU punishment

Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter has sent a letter to NCAA President Mark Emmert, denouncing the punishment of the Oklahoma State University (OSU) men’s basketball program.

The NCAA found that a coach accepted bribes to steer student athletes to two financial advisors before he was employed by OSU.

The OSU men’s basketball program received punishments including a postseason ban for the 2020-21 postseason, a reduction of scholarships and a university-imposed $10,000 fine.

Hunter calls the penalties "punitive, totally unwarranted and severe."
