3 Missouri Doctors Indicted In Prescription Drug Fraud Scheme

Three Missouri doctors and eight others face federal charges in an alleged prescription drug fraud scheme.

Dr. Asim Ali of Creve Couer, Dr. Stanley Librach of Chesterfield and chiropractor Dr. Jerry Leech of Creve Couer were indicted on multiple counts - including conspiracy to distribute controlled substances without a legitimate purpose and obtaining medication by deceit.

Prosecutors say they wrote and distributed hundreds of prescriptions to patients they never saw or evaluated. Many of those patients repeatedly tested negative for the prescribed drugs and positive for illegal street drugs.

The indictment says Dr. Librach received between $200 and $500 for each script he sold - getting up to $5,000 on some occasions.
