Redings Mill Fire Truck Thief Identified

The wild ride is over, and now Matthew A. Fisher is sitting in the Jasper County jail after allegedly stealing a truck from the Redings Mill Fire Protection District.

The truck was stolen on Monday. A Jasper Police Officer recognized the former red truck after a really bad paint job. It was covered in a light coat a black spray paint, but the fire department's logo could still be seen underneath the paint on the door.

Fisher led police and deputies on a chase Wednesday down I-49 before bailing in a field near Baseline Road and jumping into a tractor.

Fisher was arrested on two counts of tampering with a motor vehicle for stealing the truck, and the tractor, resisting arrest, he also had a probation violation and was charged in an unreleated McDonald County vehicle theft.
