Elementary students to celebrate Native American History Month

Over a thousand 4th and 5th graders from communities in northeast Oklahoma and southeast Kansas will celebrate Native American Heritage Month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Miami Civic Center.

Powwow dance demonstrations games and Native American history lessons will be included.

The celebration is sponsored by the Inter-Tribal Council along with the Miami, Quapaw, Modoc and Wyandotte Nations, and the Eastern Shawnee, Peoria, and Ottawa Tribes.
