Mercy Hospital and Freeman Health Systems hosted a Celebration of Life to honor those whose death gave life to another.

Cate Kane is a three-time corneal transplant through Saving Sight. She says it's an amazing opportunity to give back. "Life means something different for everyone and I'm blessed every day I see because of these people to accomplish that goal."

"Unfortunately life can be threatened in a moment but for many us of we're not done yet. Whether we're 17 or 57 or 77 there's still so much more to do and the gift of tissue and organs allows us to be in a unique position to give back as well," added Kane.

Nationally, more than 115,000 people currently wait for lifesaving transplants.
