Both Tax Issues On CJ Ballot Fail

In Carl Junction both propositions on the ballot failed.

Proposition 1 would have funded a new library through a new ten cent tax on every one hundred dollars of assessed value. That failed 513-304.

Proposition 2 would have imposed a 2.5% use tax on out-of-state or online sales. Officials were hoping the tax would have boosted the general fund to make improvements on capital projects, parks, and storm-water projects. That failed 512-296.

Officials say they are considering putting the propositions back on the ballot in the future.
