Vivek Malek

Vivek Malek, currently serving as Missouri's 48th State Treasurer, was appointed by Governor Mike Parson in December 2022, becoming the first person of color to hold statewide office in Missouri. Born in Rohtak, India, Malek earned his bachelor's and law degrees from Maharshi Dayanand University. He later moved to the United States, where he completed his MBA at Southeast Missouri State University and a Master of Laws from the University of Illinois College of Law.

Malek began practicing law in Missouri in 2006 and established his own law firm in 2011, focusing on immigration law. He has been recognized for his contributions to Missouri communities, receiving several awards such as the Minority Business Leader Award by the St. Louis Business Journal.

Politically, Malek is a Republican and a strong fiscal conservative. His major stances include protecting taxpayers' money, promoting growth through various state programs, and advocating for divesting state pension funds from investments in China due to geopolitical concerns.
