Biography
Mark Alford, born on October 4, 1963, is the incumbent U.S. Representative for Missouri's 4th congressional district, serving since 2023. A Republican, Alford transitioned to politics after a 25-year career as a television news anchor in Kansas City. He graduated from Baytown Sterling High School in 1982 and attended the University of Texas at Austin.
Alford is known for his conservative stances. He is staunchly pro-life, supports the Second Amendment, and advocates for increased border security. He opposes federal overreach in education and champions the rights of parents in their children's schooling. As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, Alford is committed to protecting farmers and ranchers from overregulation. He also supports term limits for politicians, having co-sponsored related legislation in his first week in Congress.
Alford serves on the House Armed Services, Agriculture, and Small Business committees. He lives in Lake Winnebago with his wife Leslie, and they have three grown children.
