Man arrested by Quapaw Nation Marshal Service for felony animal abuse

The Quapaw Nation issued the following news release today (Tuesday, Nov. 25th):
The Quapaw Nation Marshal Service is aware of the Facebook post circulating regarding a video showing a male subject striking a dog multiple times on November 24, 2025, in the 300 block of North River St. in Commerce, OK.
We want to assure our community that this incident was taken seriously, and an investigation was promptly conducted once we were contacted.
As of 2:00 P.M. on 11/25/2025 the suspect has been identified, arrested, and charges have been submitted for Felony Animal Abuse. The male has been identified as Matthew Story, 19, of Commerce, Oklahoma.
The involved animal was voluntarily surrendered and taken into custody by Commerce Animal Control, where it is now safe and receiving care.
We encourage all citizens to promptly report crimes or suspicious activity. Delayed notification can impact an investigation, and the sooner we are made aware of an incident, the better we can respond. See something, say something.
