Congressman Burlison on making life more affordable

What can the federal government do to make life more affordable?

According to southwest Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison, stop government deficit spending:

“The federal government needs to stop spending so much money, everything that we buy, and it is driving up costs. In addition, when we, because we’re deficit spending, we are competing with people who are looking to get a mortgage. So the government is buying debt on the marketplace. And if the government stops buying that debt, those interest rates will go down. And when you’ll see that happen, you’ll see the cost of everything go down.”

Burlison also stated what he thought could lower healthcare costs:

“What we can do is deregulate. So what I think, particularly within the healthcare space, if your paycheck, if you’re spending less on health insurance, like 25% less, that would be a significant boost to most people’s paychecks.  That’s something that we can do through regulation reform.  And I think that we should and honestly give people more freedom.”

When it came to the vote to release the Epstein files, Congressman Eric Burleson confirmed the bipartisan vote led this week by Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna passed despite some leadership concerns over victim protections.

The bill complements existing oversight by releasing FBI 202 files, akin to investigative notes, providing unique transparency.

Burleson views full disclosure as necessary to allow public scrutiny of any association with Epstein, avoiding assumptions of guilt.

The bill includes provisions to redact victim identities or sensitive material like child pornography, preserving privacy and legal protections.

This step is seen as a “belt and suspender” approach, reinforcing the already substantial release of 65,000 pages of documents from the White House, DOJ, and Epstein estate.
