Joplin City Council to meet Monday evening

The Joplin City Council meets in regular session on Monday, Nov. 17th.
A number of items are on the agenda.
The Council will hear a presentation on the KC26 FIFA World Cup preparation.
They will also hear a presentation about the value of a public private partnership on Joplin’s Memorial Hall proposed by the Friends of Joplin Memorial Hall organization. .
On first reading, the Council will discuss a proposed ordinance that would prohibit the offense of criminal mischief.
The ordinance is modeled on a Florida “anti-squatter law” designed to address the problem of unlawful squatting in vacant structures and vacant structure fires.
The council will also discuss a new step pay plan for city employees.
The meeting gets underway at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall at 602 S. Main.
