SW Missouri Congressman Burlison approves $10K bonus for air traffic controllers, concerns on tariff rebates

Proposed, a ten thousand dollar bonus to air traffic controllers that stayed on the job during the government shutdown.

Southwest Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison said the bonus is a good idea:

“At the end of the day, I think it sets a positive precedent because if we end up in another government shutdown, I think it’s good that workers understand that those that stayed at home and shifted all of their work and their labor and their burden onto their co workers, they’re not going to be compensated like those that did the patriotic duty to go to work.”

On the possible two thousand dollar tariff rebate checks from the Trump Administration, southwest Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison has some concerns:

“If you’re going to have tariffs, it should be in lieu of tax cuts. Income tax cuts that will create economic growth, but not necessarily tax bailouts or checks being written to the American people. That actually will have an inflationary impact. And so I don’t think it’s a wise move, particularly when we are $38 trillion in debt and we have a $2 trillion annual deficit.”
