Annual Race 4 Hope 5kRun/1 Mile Walk slated for October 19th

The annual Race 4 Hope to benefit women with breast cancer and their families is slated for Sunday, October 19 in Downtown Joplin.
Pat Lipira of the group Hope 4 You says it will be the 16th year for the 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk.

“It’s a big event for us,” says. “The event starts at 3 p.m. but prior to that, at 2:40 p.m., we have a Survivors’ Ceremony. They walk a certain distance with music going. It’s a really special event for breast cancer survivors.”
Lipira says the overall effort by Hope 4 You, has raised over $800,000 since it began in 2007.
“It’s not just … Joplin,” she says. “It also goes to [hospitals in] Nevada, Miami, Neosho, Pittsburg, Carthage. They get money from us and that is used to provide mammograms for women.”
The Race 4 Hope event begins at 4th and Main in Joplin on October 19th.
