Hawley on Trump’s response to Russia/Ukraine war

(Missourinet) – President Trump is doing all he can to bring about an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, so says Missouri U.S. Senator Josh Hawley.

Russian drones and missiles continue to bomb Ukrainian cities while Russian fighter jets and drones have violated NATO airspace. Hawley tells Missourinet that Europe – not the U.S. – needs to take the lead in responding to Russia:

“I mean I just continue to say to our European allies out there that they have got to take the lead in defending the European continent. We’ve already paid for much of it. We’re not going to pay for anymore of it.

I mean, Russia is a problem. There’s no, obviously, there’s no doubt about that. But the Europeans have got to step up because the United States has got a lot of other concerns that we also have to manage, beginning with our own border, then looking at China overseas.

This war is in their backyard and so far it’s the same old story. They just looked to the United States and say, ‘hey, you know, will you guys solve this? Will you fix it? And then will you pay for it?’”

Hawley says if Europe takes the lead in confronting Russia, it will free up the U.S. to focus its attention on the southern border and on China.
