Recycling workshop next Wednesday ahead of Dumpster Day on October 4th

Carthage, MO – Vision Carthage will host a free recycling workshop aimed at educating the community about local recycling programs as part of its Restoration Carthage initiative.
The class will focus on upcycling and include a safe paint disposal demonstration.
Hosted in partnership with the Carthage Recycling Center and the Carthage Public Library, the event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, at the Steadley Family Legacy Center.
This workshop comes ahead of “Dumpster Day, a free community cleanup event which allows anyone with a Carthage address to dispose of a variety of unwanted items, including tires, appliances, furniture, and scrap metal.
Secure paper shredding will be offered through a partnership with Innovative Industries.
The Medical Loan Closet of Joplin will also be on site, collecting gently used medical equipment at the event to redistribute to those in need. Items not accepted include lawn clippings, hot water tanks, paint, and chemicals.
DUMPSTER DAY
Dumpster Day will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Fair Acres Sports Complex parking area located at 800 George E. Phelps Blvd. in Carthage.
Anyone attending the Recycling Workshop will learn more about Dumpster Day and have the chance to take home a voucher to the Carthage Recycling Center.
This project is the result of a collaboration with multiple city departments, including police, public works, and parks and recreation. The aim is to encourage the community to recycle and dispose of items that harm the environment and take away from Carthage’s natural beauty.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Vision Carthage is seeking volunteers for Dumpster Day. Tasks will include directing traffic, manning a refreshment area, and verifying Carthage addresses.
