OTA worker killed, another injured after accident on I-44

An Oklahoma Turnpike Authority worker was killed and another was injured in an accident on Interstate 44 Monday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says it happened around 2pm near Exit 313.

The workers truck was reportedly parked near the side of the Will Rogers Turnpike when a semi veered over and slammed into their work truck.

The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Zac Rinehart, of Vinita. He was also a volunteer firefighter.

He was in the grass next to the interstate when the semi truck driver drifted off the road. That driver had reportedly dropped a device and was trying to grab it when the accident happened.
