Neosho’s Annual Free Watermelon Feed Set at Big Spring Park

Neosho, Mo. — The Republican Women of Newton County and the Newton County Republican Central Committee are gearing up to host their cherished Annual Free Watermelon Feed at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Big Spring Park, located at 308 West Spring St. in downtown Neosho.

This community event, a tradition spanning over three decades, will offer free ice-cold watermelon, bottled water, and a chance to connect with local and state Republican leaders.

The Free Watermelon Feed is open to all Republicans and promises a lively evening of political discussion and community spirit. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to settle in. This year’s program will feature prominent speakers, including U.S. Representative Eric Burlison, Missouri State Senator Jill Carter, and State Representative Dirk Deaton, who will address the crowd on key issues facing the state and nation.

In a nod to the ongoing political season, the event may also include three-minute speeches from Republican candidates vying for the vacant 160th Missouri House District seat, which covers Neosho, parts of Joplin, and northeastern Newton County, should Governor Mike Kehoe call a special election before the event.

A straw poll will be available, serving as an entry into a drawing for prizes, including “Make America Great Again” hats and other items.

In case of rain, the event will relocate to the Lampo Building at 500 E. Spring St., Neosho, ensuring the festivities go on uninterrupted.
