Missouri and Kansas will hold primary/special elections on Tuesday. Below is a look at what is up for election.

Newton County 

Prop A

“In an attempt to eliminate the un-fair advantage enjoyed by out-of-state vendors over local vendors, and to fund improved retirement and benefits of Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies and other county employees, shall the County of Newton impose a local use tax at the same rate as the total local sales tax rate, currently at 1.625 cent per dollar, provided that if any local sales tax is repealed, reduced, or raised by voter approval, the local use tax rate shall also be repealed, reduced, or raised by the same action?”

Lawrence County

MOUNT VERNON AMBULANCE DISTRICT QUESTION YES NO 

“Shall the portion of Lawrence County that is not currently located within the Mount Vernon Ambulance District and the Barry-Lawrence County Ambulance District, be annexed into the Mount Vernon Ambulance District? 

CITY OF PIERCE CITY QUESTION YES NO 

SHALL THE MUNICIPALITY OF PIERCE CITY IMPOSE A SALES TAX OF ONE­HALF OF ONE PERCENT (1/2) of (1%) FOR THE PURPOSE OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO GO TOWARD LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR THE CITY?

EVERTON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

PROP 1

Shall the Everton Fire Protection District be incorporated with a three person board of directors which shall be authorized to levy a tax of up to $0.30 per $100.00 assessed valuation for the organization, operation and support of the Everton Fireton Protection District?

FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Vote for three

The person receiving the highest number of votes is to hold office for a term of six years, the person receiving the second highest number of votes is to hold office for a term of four years, and the person receiving the third highest number of votes shall hold office for a term of two years from the date of the election and until their successors duly elected and qualified.
