Fort Scott man charged after crash injures Pitt State softball player

A man from Fort Scott faces multiple charges after a violent crash over the weekend left a Pittsburg State softball player suffering severe injuries.
39-year-old Jared Ryan Query was booked into the Bourbon County Jail Sunday evening after the crash on Highway 7. He was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when he hit a car driven by 22-year-old Kendall Forbes. The Wichita-native was ejected from her car and ended up in a ditch before eventually being taken to a hospital in Kansas City.
According to Facebook posts by Kendall’s mother, she had brain swelling and a bladder injury and was put on a ventilator but is recovering.
Query was allegedly under the influence when the crash occurred and was driving while suspended.
Query posted bond and was released. He will be back in court in late August.
