Webb City woman in custody following false report, police pursuit
On July 17 at approximately 2:45 p.m., Jasper County Deputies were dispatched to the area of Indigo Rd and County Road 40 in Jasper County in reference to a suspicious vehicle.
When Deputies arrived in the area, they saw the vehicle and attempted to stop it. When the vehicle refused to stop, a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit went approximately 25 miles throughout the county. During the pursuit the suspect called 911 and falsely reported a shooting at an address in the County.
As the pursuit continued, the suspect began driving on the wrong side of the roadway and going through
residents’ yards and causing property damage by driving through fences and gates.
The vehicle was eventually forced to stop near Barton County Blvd and County Road 40 as it went into a
yard and around a house and where it collided with a patrol vehicle. No injuries occurred and
there were only minor damages to the County patrol vehicles.
The suspect was arrested and identified as Helen K. Stark, 36, of Webb City, Mo. Stark was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in Carthage and charges for DWI, driving while revoked 2nd, Valentines law, property damage and misuse of 911 were submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor for review.
Stark also had two felony fail to appear warrants, one for tampering with a motor vehicle, the other for stealing.
