Bell ringing for Salvation Army’s “Christmas in July”

Usually, you only hear those Salvation Army bell ringers in the cold days in and around Christmas.

But this year is different.

Nathan Hicks of the Salvation Army of Jasper and Newton Counties told NewsTalk KZRG:

“We are celebrating Christmas in July.  We are bell ringing at the 15th Street Wal Mart in Joplin and the Webb City Supercenter.”

He says the bells are ringing now through July 31st to raise funds to help critical programs including food assistance, housing and emergency relief.

“The need is real and it’s year-round,” Hicks commented.

Individual, families, organizations, civic groups and church groups can help ring the bells early this season.

Hicks says those wanting to sign up to ring the bell should call or text 417-483-5155.
