Human remains in brush pile identified as a woman from Joplin
Last week, human remains were discovered in a brush pile in Cedar County.
Now, authorities have identified the body as a woman through Joplin.
Sheriff James McCrary states by using rapid DNA testing, the victim has been identified as 27-year-old Shaniya S. Haynes of Joplin.
It is believed that the body was placed in the fire on or about January 16 of this year in an attempt to destroy or conceal evidence of a crime.
A full autopsy at a time TBA will help determine the cause of death.
Three men – Bradley Keith of Eldorado Springs, Brandon Choate of Lamar and Jimi C. Cole were arrested and charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence in Felony Prosecution and Felony Abandonment of a Corpse.
They are being held in the Cedar County Jail in Stockton.
