Woman dies after being accidentally shot by husband after hunting

A woman from southeast Kansas is dead after the accidental discharge of a rifle over the weekend.

The Labette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened Saturday afternoon at the Grand Osage Wildlife Area in Oswego.

The man who reported the shooting told deputies that after finishing deer hunting, he and his wife returned to their vehicle. When he laid his rifle down on the back seat of their pickup truck and attempted to unload it. When he took the rifle off safe, it went off, striking his wife, Christina Hall.

EMS arrived and immediately transported Hall to Labette Health in Parsons, where she passed away from her injuries.
