Man arrested after allegedly assaulting officer in Noel

A homeless man from Chicago was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a Noel police officer over the weekend.

On Saturday, Noel Marshal’s Office deputies say they contacted an individual at the request of a local business to trespass him from the property.

During contact, 36-year-old Adam Shogar allegedly became aggressive and assaulted the officer, breaking his glasses while the officer was attempting to detain him.

During the struggle, the officer requested emergency assistance and was able to deploy his taser, taking Shogar into custody.

Emergency medical services was requested to evaluate Shogar and the deputy with both parties refusing care.

Yet, the deputy was evaluated at a local hospital and later released.

Shogar was transported to the McDonald County Detention Center where the McDonald County Prosecutor has charged Shogar with Assault 3rd Degree-Special Victim and Resisting Arrest for a Felony. Shogars bond has been set at $5,000 cash-only.
