9/11 observation planned at Pittsburg State University

An observation of the tragedy on 9/11 is slated on the campus of Pittsburg State University.
Starting at 8:45 a.m. and continuing throughout Monday morning, students in the ROTC program at Pitt State will conduct the annual Patriot Day Remembrance at the northwest corner of Carnie Smith Stadium, along Joplin Street.
Student cadets will fire the ROTC cannon four times: at 8:46 a.m., when Flight 11 hit the first World Trade Center towers, at 9:03 a.m. when Flight 175 hit the second tower, at 9:37 a.m. when Flight 77 hit the Pentagon, and at 10:03 a.m. when Flight 93 crashed into a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
Cadets will take turns reading each of the 2,977 names of those killed in the attacks and an additional 65 names of those who died from related injuries and lung disease; for each name, cadets will do a pushup.
