Cookbook author Emily Lycopolus to speak in Carthage

Emily Lycopolus, best-selling cookbook author and olive oil sommelier from Victoria, Canada, is coming to Carthage for two days of education and tasting.

“Olive oil is the most used and most misunderstood ingredient in our kitchen,” Lycopolus says. “I love debunking all the myths around this foundational ingredient.”

Education will be the main focus at two ticketed events hosted by Carthage Olive Oil Company.

On Tuesday, September 12, Lycopolus will prepare a four course meal from her book Greece: Recipes for Olive Oil and Vinegar Lovers and educate diners between courses. “We want guests to treasure the food, conversation, learning, and beautiful atmosphere they experience at this one-of-a-kind dinner party,” says Ceri Otero, owner of Carthage Olive Oil Company.

On Wednesday, September 13, Lycopolus will walk attendees through a conversational, informative session that goes well beyond a typical in-store tasting customers experience when shopping. “Olive oil is just as complex and nuanced as a bottle of wine,” Lycopolus says. “We’ll focus on how to appreciate it at this tasting.”

Lycopolus will be available to sign her cookbooks at both events, as well as in the store from 2-4 PM on Wednesday, September 13.

Tickets and location details for both events are available at CarthageOliveOilCompany.com or in person at Carthage Olive Oil Company. Store hours are 11 AM to 6 PM Wednesday-Saturday at 337 S Main St, on the west side of the Carthage Square.
