Friends of the Joplin Public Library to celebrate first anniversary

A special celebration is planned for the first anniversary of the Friends of the Joplin Public Library.
The event – which is open to members of the Friends group and their families – will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 17, in the Community Room at the library, 1901 E. 20th St.
There will be entertainment, refreshments, activities and more, as well as information about how the group has provided funding for programs, new books, and equipment that benefits all library patrons. Board members will be on hand to answer questions.
A nonprofit organization, the Friends of the Joplin Public Library was founded to provide financial support beyond the library’s operating budget. Membership is open to individuals, families, businesses and other organizations regardless of card-holder status or city of residence.
