Parsons Police arrest wanted criminal with help from taser

The Parsons Police Department made an arrest on Wednesday. Following the booking Parsons PD released the following statement:
On March 22, 2023, at approximately 9:30 pm Officer Rory Johnson and Officer Conner Eichinger were on normal patrol when Officer Eichinger spotted a known wanted individual.
Lazarus Thomas Hinman, 22 of Parsons, was spotted near the Parsonian Apartments in the 1700 block of Broadway. Hinman was known to have an active Labette County Warrant. Officer Rory Johnson stopped and made contact with Hinman, but Hinman fled from Officer Johnson. Officer Johnson chased him and was able to subdue Hinman with the use of his Taser.
Hinman was then taken into custody by Officer Johnson and Officer Eichinger. Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the scene to check on Hinman. EMS is called whenever there is a Taser deployment, and the scene is safe for evaluation and to remove the Taser probes if they had not fallen out yet. Hinman refused EMS treatment at the scene.
Officers located illegal narcotics in Hinman’s pocket that was field tested and gave a presumptive positive indication for Methamphetamines. Hinman was booked in the Parsons Police Department Holding facility without further incident.
Parsons Police are requesting the following charges from the Labette County Attorney’s Office for Hinman, Possession of Narcotics, Probation Violation, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Interference with Law Enforcement.
Parsons Patrol Lieutenant Kyle Wiford said “this is a great arrest by proactive officers actively looking for known criminals. Hinman has an extensive history with the Parsons Police Department and law enforcement in general. I just wanted to congratulate the officers on a good arrest.”
