Murder being investigated in Anderson

A murder in McDonald County has police investigating. It happened Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. when Anderson Police and McDonald County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting incident on Stephens Drive in Anderson.

Upon arrival, deputies found 25-year-old Jonny Wren injured by apparent gunshot wounds. Deputies and officers secured the scene and EMS transported Wren to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff’s Office Detectives learned that Wren had been confronted at his home by two men, who accused him of hiding someone that they were looking for. A fight then ensued, and at some point in the altercation, both parties produced handguns, and gunfire was exchanged. Wren was hit several times.

The two suspects fled the scene as detectives were later able to identify both suspects and began searching for them.

An attorney then arranged the surrender of both suspects to the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office.

At the time of this release, charges are pending. Names of the suspects will be released after charges have been filed.
