Pittsburg woman arrested after infant left in hot car

A woman from Pittsburg is facing child endangerment charges after she allegedly left her infant child in a car while she was in Walmart.

Pittsburg Police say they were called to the Walmart at 2710 N. Broadway on Sunday afternoon regarding a report of an infant being left in an unattended vehicle. They found that the 9-month-old child had been left in the vehicle, that was turned off, for approximately 20 minutes. The outside temperature at the time was around 90°F.

Walmart staff members that discovered the child opened the car and rescued the baby, who was then taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

The mother of the child, 23-year-old Ariana R. Garza, was in the store at the time and returned to the car while officers were on scene. She was then arrested for felony aggravated endangerment of a child and was taken to the Crawford County Jail. She was later released on a $3,000 bond.
