A Lawrence County man, with a previous child sex crime conviction in Jasper County, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.

61-year-old Kipp Wallace, of Mount Vernon, pleaded guilty to second-degree sodomy and attempted second-degree statutory rape.

The crimes date back to 2017 and 2018 in the Aurora area but were not reported to authorities until 2023.

Wallace received two seven-year prison sentences, which a judge ordered him to serve consecutively.

This was not Wallace's first conviction involving a child.

In 1999, he pleaded guilty to statutory sodomy following the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.
