Missouri moving to new, flat license plates

Changes are coming to Missouri's license plates.

The state is getting ready to debut flat license plates.

The plates are smooth and unembossed and numbers and letters are digitally printed directly onto the surface instead of being stamped and raised.

Missouri is shifting to seven-character flat plates  under its new FUSION system beginning in February 2027.

The plates are manufactured by the Missouri Department of Corrections in Jefferson City.
