A Kansas man is in jail after allegedly threatening to shoot President Trump.
Jaden J. Read, 24, of Clearwater in Sedgewick County, was charged Saturday with making threats against the president, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Kansas.
Authorities arrested him that same day, two days before Trump's scheduled Monday visit to Wichita.
Read allegedly vowed to shoot the President and claimed he had already mapped rooftops near his upcoming speech, triggering a federal investigation that landed him in custody before the visit.
The investigation began Oct. 15, when a Crime Stoppers tip alerted authorities to comments beneath a Facebook article about the president's trip, prosecutors said.
Read was taken into federal custody following his arrest in Clearwater. Prosecutors said he would remain there pending a detention hearing.
