FRANKLIN, Kan. — Tickets are now available to the general public for one of the Miners Hall Museum Foundation's most anticipated annual fundraisers, Making Spirits Bright, set for Saturday, October 24, at Miners Hall Museum in Franklin.
This year's event, themed "A Toast to Victory," will feature a standout lineup of celebrity bartenders from throughout the region — including a special "Team Gorilla" pairing of Pittsburg State University President Dr. Thomas Newsom and Provost Dr. Susan Bon.
Joining Team Gorilla as celebrity bartenders will be Seth Nutt, Chuckie Hessong, Thom Watts, Matthew Buck and Patrick O'Bryan. Each bartender or team will host a tasting station located throughout the museum, serving a specialty cocktail paired with a bite-size appetizer. Together, the lineup brings familiar faces from education, media, business and community leadership to an evening of friendly competition and support for the museum.
Making Spirits Bright will be offered in two sessions, at 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person per session. Guests will move through six themed stations, sampling specialty cocktails and paired appetizers along the way. This year's "A Toast to Victory" theme celebrates both America's 250th anniversary and Pittsburg's 150th anniversary, with drinks and station themes inspired by those historic milestones.
The celebrity bartenders will also compete for bragging rights through a public voting fundraiser. Supporters may cast votes for their favorite bartender, with $1 equaling one vote. Voting is already underway and will continue leading up to the event.
Making Spirits Bright has historically been a sellout event, and tickets are limited for each session. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets early. Guests purchasing tickets with friends may request to be placed in the same group, and the museum will make every effort to accommodate those requests.
Tickets may be purchased at https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/3X4Q3ZHAWJR94, follow Miners Hall Museum on Facebook where you will find QR codes and links, by calling the office at 620-347-4220, or by stopping by the museum during regular hours, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. DO NOT buy tickets from anyone offering them for sale. There are no physical tickets and you are making a reservation for your spot. Only purchase tickets through the museum.
Proceeds from Making Spirits Bright support Miners Hall Museum Foundation and its work to preserve and share the coal mining, immigrant and community history of Southeast Kansas.
