Two local sheriffs will serve on a state task force that oversees funding for efforts to fight meth crime.
Gov. Mike Kehoe announced Friday that Jasper County Sheriff Randee Kaiser has been reappointed to the Missouri Sheriff Methamphetamine Relief Task Force.
Newton County Sheriff Matthew Stewart has been newly appointed to the panel.
Kaiser previously served as assistant chief of the Carthage Police Department before being elected Jasper County sheriff. He holds a journalism degree from the University of Missouri and a master's degree in criminal justice administration from Southeast Missouri State University.
Stewart serves as Newton County sheriff and previously was executive director of the Children's Center of Southwest Missouri. He chairs the Tri-State Major Case Squad and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
The task force, known as MoSMART, consists of five sitting sheriffs appointed to two-year terms.
It reviews grant applications for methamphetamine enforcement efforts and administers Missouri's deputy sheriff salary supplementation fund.
