Electrical Fire Damages Webb City Home

WEBB CITY, Mo. — A structure fire broke out at a single-family home on South Ball Street in Webb City shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The Webb City Fire Department responded to the blaze, along with firefighters from the Oronogo and Joplin fire departments.

Webb City Battalion Chief Cody Stone said the fire appeared to have been accidental and may have been caused by an electrical issue.

"It looks like electrical. An accidental electrical fire," Stone said.

The fire was reportedly started in the garage. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames and bring the fire under control.

"They had a quick knockdown on it," Stone said.

Two residents of the home suffered minor burns in the fire but declined medical treatment at the scene.
