A fire that destroyed a McDonald’s restaurant in Lebanon, Missouri, is believed to have been accidental, but investigators say the extensive damage may make it impossible to determine exactly how it started.

The fire broke out shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday at the McDonald’s at 850 S. Jefferson Ave.

Lebanon Deputy Fire Chief Andy Woody told Newstalk KZRG that employees first noticed a light haze of smoke near the ceiling and felt heat around a light fixture or vent.

They called 911 and evacuated the restaurant before firefighters arrived.

“We arrived within five minutes of being dispatched, and the building had been evacuated at that time,” Woody said.

No customers, employees or firefighters were injured.

The restaurant’s owners have told fire officials they plan to rebuild. No timetable has been announced.

Lebanon’s other McDonald’s, near Interstate 44, was not affected.
