Health officials warn of potential measles exposure at Busch Stadium

Missouri health officials are warning about possible measles exposures in the St. Louis area, including at a Cardinals game earlier this month.
There are no reported exposure locations in Joplin or Southwest Missouri, but the alert could affect local residents who traveled to St. Louis during the weekend of Sept. 12.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services says a possible exposure occurred at Busch Stadium on Sept. 12, particularly in Section 141 between about 6 and 11:30 p.m.
Health officials are asking anyone who was at one of the listed locations to monitor for symptoms for 21 days after the possible exposure.
Measles typically begins with fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes. A rash usually develops several days later.
The virus is highly contagious and can remain infectious in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves an area.
Anyone who develops symptoms is being told to isolate and call a health care provider before arriving for treatment to avoid potentially exposing others.
State health officials say two doses of the MMR vaccine provide about 97% protection against measles.
