A Joplin man is facing several felony charges after a search of a home turned up cocaine, psychedelic mushrooms, pills, a handgun and cash.

Demontre Deshaun Gatewood was charged this following a search two days earlier at a home on South Meadow Avenue.

His bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety.

According to a probable cause statement, the Joplin Police Department’s FLEX Team served a search warrant at the home Sept. 13.

Gatewood, who investigators identified as the primary target of the warrant, was stopped as he was leaving.

Police said a woman and Gatewood’s 2-year-old daughter were inside the home at the time.

Investigators reported finding a large amount of suspected cocaine in a spare bedroom, including a brick of white powder inside a safe and additional cocaine scattered around the room.

Police said the cocaine weighed 86.38 grams and tested positive using a TruNarc narcotics identification device.

Investigators also found nearly 2.5 pounds of marijuana, more than 62 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms and 12 pills marked “XANAX.”

A 9 mm handgun, a digital scale and a large amount of cash were also seized.
