Family identifies victims of fatal SEK house fire

Family members have identified the grandmother and four children killed in a devastating Independence, Kansas, house fire that also sent five other people to hospitals.
The victims were identified as Johanna Landsaw-Davis and her grandchildren, Bane, Case, Alahyla and Renesmae Landsaw-Davis.
The fire broke out around 6:22 a.m. Sept. 11 at a home in the 200 block of South Earl Street.
Firefighters and police removed multiple people from the burning home.
Five others — three children and two adults — were hospitalized.
Family members said the children’s mother, Destiny, is being treated in Kansas City, while the oldest surviving child was hospitalized in Wichita.
Two of the four children who died were students in the Independence school district.
A fundraiser has been established to help with funeral expenses, medical bills and other needs as the surviving family members recover.
Investigators have not announced what caused the fire.
The circumstances surrounding the blaze remain under investigation.
