Popular Shoal Creek access could soon be off-limits as Neosho moves to sell property
What do you think?
NEOSHO, Mo. — A longtime public access point along Shoal Creek is set to leave Missouri Department of Conservation management as the city of Neosho prepares to sell the property.
MDC said it will stop managing Lime Kiln Access in Newton County on Thursday after the city notified the department it was terminating the lease because of a planned property sale.
MDC signs will be removed, while the ramps, fencing and other infrastructure will remain.
It is not yet clear who is buying the property or whether public access will continue under a new owner. Residents speculate Missouri American Water is buying it but we can’t confirm anything just yet.
MDC said anglers and paddlers can continue using Allen Bridge Access upstream and Tipton Ford Access downstream.
