GALESBURG, Kan. — A family of three, including a 2-year-old boy, was killed early Monday in a house fire in Neosho County, Kansas.
The victims were identified as Dillon Evans, of Parsons, his wife, Isabella Kitterman Evans, of Caney, and their son, Easton Lee.
Galesburg Volunteer Fire Chief John Lilburn said crews were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. to U.S. Highway 59 and 80th Road for what was initially reported as a grass fire.
The call was upgraded to a structure fire before firefighters arrived, and first responders found the home burned to the ground.
“This is truly devastating to our small community,” Lilburn said.
The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
