Two Arrested, Stolen Firearms Recovered Following Rural Vernon County Burglary

VIRGIL CITY, Mo. — Two suspects are in custody after a burglary investigation led local law enforcement to the recovery of multiple stolen firearms in rural Vernon County.

Deputies with the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a break-in at a rural residence near Virgil City at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Investigators determined that several firearms had been taken during the incident.

Through the course of the investigation, authorities identified Joshua Warner as one of two suspects. Warner was taken into custody the following morning, July 23. The Vernon County Prosecutor’s Office subsequently issued an arrest warrant charging Warner with:

• Burglary

• Stealing Firearms

• Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

A second suspect, Nicole Kalleck, was also taken into custody on an arrest warrant facing similar charges, including Second-Degree Burglary, Stealing Firearms, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Both Warner and Kalleck are currently being held in the Vernon County Jail on $50,000 cash-only bonds.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that officers with the Lamar Police Department and Probation and Parole officers from the Missouri Department of Corrections assisted in the investigation, which directly contributed to locating and recovering the stolen firearms.

Authorities state the investigation remains active, and additional charges or arrests may follow.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
